What is the complete requirement chain?
Treat the route as six pieces, three keys, three opened drawers and three read letters, followed by the completed story. Picking up a fragment is not equivalent to opening its drawer, and opening a drawer is not equivalent to reading its letter. Check the interaction at each stage instead of counting inventory objects alone.

When should you read the letters?
Collect the fragments while their kitchen or cellar locations are accessible, then use the dresser and read each document before advancing past the opportunity. The player guide identifies the first fragment before the first dish and later fragments during the second, third and fourth dishes. Delaying the entire search until the ending is therefore a poor recovery plan.
What if the extra scene does not appear?
First check whether all three letter achievements registered and whether you remained through the credits. If you quit and resumed, the community-reported key reset may be relevant, but it is a report rather than a verified permanent rule. This page explains the unlock route; it does not pretend the scene’s story interpretation is an official developer explanation.
